Local Roots: The Farmacy
7/28/20262 min read

From the moment I first stepped foot into the Farmacy Market, I knew I had stumbled upon something magical. Tucked into the heart of a community that continues to grow while holding onto its small town charm, the Farmacy is more than a place to pick up groceries. It’s an invitation to be a little more intentional about what we bring into our homes and onto our tables.
The Farmacy’s philosophy is beautifully simple: “Food Is Medicine.” Their market is centered around quality foods and thoughtfully sourced products, with offerings that include fresh produce, meats, cheeses, bakery items, sweets, artisan products, unique pantry finds, and gourmet kitchen supplies. It’s the kind of place where grocery shopping can feel less like checking something off your to-do list and more like discovering something new.
One of the things I appreciate the most about places like the Farmacy is the connection they create between food, wellness, and community. Choosing fresh, nourishing ingredients is one small way we can care for ourselves, but shopping locally can also help keep those dollars circulating within the community. A fun fact about he Farmacy is that they also source their chickens from a nearby family-run farm right here in Delaware. After learning this through a rather inspiring conversation with the owner, I refuse to buy my chicken from anywhere else!
The Farmacy has recently entered an exciting new chapter, relocating to 301 NE Front Street in Milford. The larger space gives the market more room to grow, and the new location is part of an effort to create a destination that connects people with healthier food and local agriculture. The Farmacy has also envisioned a community food forest as part of the property, which is an idea that beautifully brings together food, nature, and pollinators. These are exactly the kind of initiatives that help to bring back health and sustainable independence to our communities.
From ingredients for a backyard dinner, to supporting a local business with a strong mission, or simply looking for an excuse to wander through a local market, there’s plenty to discover when traveling to the Farmacy. Wellness definitely doesn’t always have to look like a major lifestyle change. Sometimes it looks like choosing a beautiful peach, finding a locally made product, cooking something from scratch, or taking the extra few minutes to support a business in your own backyard.
So, if you’re spending a summer day in Milford, add the Farmacy to your list. Shop local, eat well, and take a little bit of Milford home with you!
